HVAC Service in Loudon, Tennessee

Loudon has changed quite a bit, and you don’t have to talk to many longtime residents before that comes up.

They’re not wrong. Loudon County has changed. Tellico Village brought a lot of new neighbors from outside East Tennessee, roads that used to stay pretty quiet carry a lot more traffic now, and there are parts of the county that look completely different than they did twenty years ago.

There’s plenty of good-natured debate about how much Loudon has grown, but nobody seems confused about why people love living here. Whether you’ve watched the county change for decades or just found your way here, welcome. We’re glad you’re here.

Phoenix Home Comfort provides HVAC repair, maintenance, replacement, installation and indoor air quality service throughout Loudon and the surrounding area. We service all major HVAC brands.

This page was developed from the field experience of Sam Hartness and Augustine Perez of Phoenix Home Comfort.

Give Us the Weird Details

Homeowner intuition is right more often than people give it credit for.

You may not know the name of the part involved, but you know your house. If the system suddenly sounds different, runs longer than it used to or only acts up at a certain time of day, tell us! Homeowners spend a lot more time around their equipment than we do, and those little observations can give us useful background before we ever start testing.

We’re already pretty geeked out about HVAC. Hearing the play-by-play is part of the fun.

From there, we’ll put our gauges and meters on the equipment, and work through the system ourselves. That might be an AC repair in the middle of July, a heat pump acting strange once the weather turns, or a furnace problem that only shows up during startup.

Your observations give us the history. The equipment gives us the diagnosis.

Then we’ll show you what we found and talk through what makes sense next.

HVAC maintenance in Loudon

The More We See the System, the More Context We Have

There’s real value in seeing the same equipment more than once.

During an HVAC maintenance visit, we clean what needs attention, run the system through operation and record the readings we care about. When we come back six months or a year later, we’re not starting from scratch. We can look back at how that heat pump, air conditioner or furnace was performing the last time we had our hands on it and see what has changed since then.

That history is one of our favorite parts of regular maintenance. A number by itself tells us something. A number compared with the last few visits tells us a lot more.

The season changes what we pay attention to as well. A heat pump stays busy through much of the year in East Tennessee, while a gas furnace can sit quietly all summer before suddenly getting called back into service.

And sometimes an HVAC tune-up ends with nothing exciting to report. The equipment is clean, everything is operating where it should, and there’s no repair conversation to have.

That’s a good visit.=

Indoor air quality & humidity in Loudon

When 72 Degrees Still Feels Damp

Loudon gets plenty of wet weather without us needing to blame the lake for everything.

The area sees around 55 inches of rain in a normal year, and some of the muggiest-feeling days aren’t the ones when the air conditioner is working hardest. Spring and fall can give us mild temperatures with plenty of moisture still hanging around outside.

That combination shows up inside the house pretty quickly. Your air conditioner removes moisture while it cools, but on a 68-degree rainy day it may satisfy the thermostat before it has run long enough to do much dehumidifying. The same thing can happen when a system is oversized for the house and cools the space down too quickly, which is one reason we pay close attention to proper sizing when we replace equipment.

If the house still feels clammy, we want to know what the HVAC system is doing first. Airflow matters. So does how much moisture is making its way in from places like a crawl space. When the cooling system is doing its job and the house still needs more moisture removal, a whole-home dehumidifier can work without waiting for another cooling call.

Dust, filtration and other indoor air quality concerns take us in a different direction. Deeper media filters give us more surface area to capture particles moving through the system, with UV and cold-plasma products available when they better fit what you’re trying to improve.

We’d always rather solve what’s bothering you than sell you the whole IAQ aisle.

HVAC replacement & installation in Loudon

There’s More to Replacing a System Than Matching the Old One

Homes change. Finished rooms, new windows and added insulation can all affect what a house needs from its HVAC system.

A Manual J load calculation helps us determine the heating and cooling load, but we also need to know whether the ductwork can move the air that equipment requires. Sizing and airflow go hand in hand.

From there, we walk through your options. Sometimes a straightforward replacement makes the most sense. Other times, staging, efficiency, humidity control or longer labor coverage may be worth the investment. We'll explain the differences and help you decide what matters.

We install brands like Goodman, Ruud, Daikin, Durastar and Mitsubishi ductless because parts availability, warranty support and local distributor relationships matter long after installation day.

Once the equipment is chosen, our attention turns to the details: flowing nitrogen while brazing, pressure testing, pulling a proper vacuum, setting up controls and verifying airflow.

Nobody's going to compliment us on a proper vacuum. That's fine.

If we're putting our name on a system in your Loudon home, the work behind the panels matters just as much as what you can see.

Loudon Utilities & TVA EnergyRight

Before You Finalize a Replacement, Check What’s Available

Homeowners served by Loudon Utilities Board may have access to TVA EnergyRight programs tied to qualifying HVAC or duct improvements.

Phoenix Home Comfort participates in TVA’s Quality Contractor Network, so if a project fits the current program, we can account for those requirements while the job is still being planned.

Light commercial HVAC in Loudon

Your Commercial HVAC Deserves Context

A commercial comfort problem can be hard to catch at 8:00 in the morning.

The office feels fine when everyone first gets there, then the afternoon rolls around and one side of the building starts getting warm. A church may sit quiet most of the week and feel completely different once the sanctuary fills up on Sunday. That kind of timing matters, so we want to hear how the building behaves when it’s actually being used.

Around Loudon, that can mean a small business downtown, a church, an office along Highway 72 or another light commercial property that has its own rhythm through the week.

Phoenix Home Comfort provides light commercial HVAC repair, maintenance and replacement, including rooftop units and split systems. If there’s a certain time of day when the problem shows up, tell us. That part of the story can be just as useful as what the equipment is doing when we arrive.

Jennifer’s Home in Chatuga: Using Replacement to Improve the Whole Setup

By the time Jennifer was ready to replace her package heat pump, we already knew quite a bit about the HVAC system in her home.

Maintenance visits had given us time to see how the older equipment was performing and, just as importantly, where the ductwork was limiting her airflow. So when replacement became the right next step, Jennifer chose to include those improvements in the project instead of changing the equipment and leaving the rest untouched.

We enlarged both the supply and return ductwork within the home’s existing wall opening, then installed the new Goodman heat pump package system with a new pad, electrical disconnects and thermostat. Her existing indoor air quality equipment stayed in the plan, and we added a condensate pump for the crawl-space dehumidifier.

Our history with the customer made the replacement easier to build around Jennifer’s home in the Chatuga neighborhood of Loudon because we weren’t meeting the system for the first time on estimate day. We already knew what she wanted to improve, and she was prepared to decide how much of that work she wanted to take on with her new system.

Robert’s Home in Tanasi: Getting to Know a New Heat Pump Over Time

We installed Robert’s 3-ton Goodman split heat pump in the Tanasi neighborhood of Tellico Village at the end of 2024, along with a new return box, 4-inch media filter, UV light and Plasma Pure ionizer.

Getting the new HVAC system installed was the beginning of our history with it, not the end.

After Robert had some real East Tennessee winter weather behind him, we increased the electric backup heat from 5 kW to 8 kW to give the home more support during colder conditions. Jesse was back during the spring for the follow-up maintenance, where he made a small TXV adjustment and fine-tuned the refrigerant charge.

By the next annual HVAC maintenance visit, the equipment was still extremely clean. The UV light and Plasma Pure were operating properly, the capacitor remained in tolerance, and the heat pump was producing a 20-degree temperature difference in heating.

We really like being able to follow a system this way. A heat pump installation in Loudon gives us the starting point; coming back through different seasons shows us how that equipment is settling into the home and gives us the chance to make thoughtful adjustments when they help.

Robert’s system has now given us that history through installation, its first winter, cooling season and another heating-season maintenance visit. That’s the kind of long-term care we want our Phoenix Club members to have.
