Frequently Asked Questions About HVAC

We get a lot of good questions — here are some of the common ones answered clearly. If your question isn’t here, reach out anytime! We'd love to hear from you.

  • 1. Who is Phoenix Home Comfort?

We’re a local HVAC company in East Tennessee founded by Sam Hartness and Augie Perez. After working in the industry for years — including time with Russell & Abbott — they decided to start fresh with a focus on honesty, quality, and true customer service.

  • 2. How do I schedule service or get a quote?

You can call us, send a message, or fill out the contact form on our site. We’ll confirm your details, work with your availability, and walk you through what to expect. We look forward to earning your trust and treating your home the way we’d want someone to treat ours.

  • 3. What brands do you work on?

We’re equipped to service all major HVAC and home comfort brands. We’re also a JB-registered dealer, so systems registered under JB parts and labor coverage post-April 2024 are within our purview.

  • 4. Do you offer a maintenance plan?

Yes. We run what we call the Phoenix Club — it has two levels (Essentials and Enhanced) to suit different ages and conditions of systems. Membership gives you planned tune-ups, priority scheduling, and discounts on repair work. Taking care of your system is the best way to be a good steward of what you already have — and we’re happy to help you do that.

  • 5. What areas do you serve?

We serve  Blount, Loudon, Knox, Roane, and Anderson counties in East Tennessee — and the towns within them. If you're unsure whether you're covered, feel free to call or drop us a message.

  • 6. How often should my system be serviced?

Generally, once a year is minimum. For homes with older systems, spring and fall checks are ideal. Regular maintenance helps catch issues early and keeps your equipment running efficiently.

  • 7. Do you offer financing?

Yes — we can help you with financing options. Details are on our Financing page, or just ask us when you call and we’ll walk you through what works best for your situation.

  • 8. Will you honor past warranties or service agreements from Russell & Abbott?

Because R&A no longer exists, we can’t take on their past contracts or labor warranties. But if your system has a manufacturer or parts warranty (and you’ve kept up with maintenance), we can help with that! Also, for systems registered after April 2024, we can service JB parts and labor warranties.

  • 9. Are you affiliated with Russell & Abbott?

No — we’re a completely different business. When R&A closed, we bought their customer database so we could help the homeowners who were left without support. Phoenix Home Comfort is its own company, with our own values and way of doing things. We’re grateful for the relationships we built there, and thankful we get to continue serving so many of those same families.

  • 10. What about my Onyx unit and its warranty?

Onyx units typically come with a 10-year parts warranty from the manufacturer. That warranty stays valid when the product is registered and properly maintained. Any qualified HVAC provider (including us) can help file claims for covered parts, but we'd be honored to be the team you choose.
